Exterior is the showpiece, but interiors are where you live with the car. A great interior detail is methodical — same order, every time. Here's how we do it.
Step 1 — Strip and shake
Remove every floor mat, every loose item, every cup holder insert. Shake mats out away from the car. Vacuum the boot first so dust doesn't blow back.
Step 2 — Top down vacuum
Headliner, A-pillars, dashboard, doors, then seats and floor. Use a soft brush attachment on anything fabric or leather to lift embedded grit before suction.
Step 3 — Steam and extract
Steam loosens grime in vents, stitching, and seat seams without harsh chemicals. For fabric seats, follow with an extractor to pull dirt and moisture back out.
Step 4 — Surface dressing
Use a matte-finish protectant on plastics — not a glossy silicone that creates glare on the windshield. Leather gets a pH-neutral cleaner first, then a breathable conditioner.
Step 5 — Glass last, always
Interior glass picks up off-gassing from vinyl protectants. Always do glass last with two microfibres — one wet, one dry buff.
